The Botanic Garden is situated next to the Sport Institute on the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, about 2 km west of Mainz Main Station.

By bus
The easiest way to come to the Botanic Garden is to take one of the following bus lines from Mainz Main Station ("Hauptbahnhof"):
Line 57 (direction "Bretzenheim"), get out at the bus stop "Botanischer Garten"
Line 9 (direction "Jakob-Heinz-Straße / Arena"), get out at the bus stop "Colonel-Kleinmann-Weg"

By car
From the west (i.e. from direction Bonn/Cologne)
• Travel autobahn A 60 crossing "Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz" direction Darmstadt.
• Leave autobahn A 60 at exit "Mainz-Finthen".
• Follow the street sign "Saarstraße/Innenstadt" straight ahead through the traffic circle "Europaplatz".
• Take exit "Universität" to reach the main car entrance of the university campus. However, parking on campus is availlable only with special permission. Alternative you can stay on Saarstraße" to the next exit "Mainz-Bretzenheim" and try to get a parking place within "Albert-Schweitzer-Straße" or "Dahlheimer-Weg". From there you can walk to the botanic Garden (see Campus Map).
From the east (i.e. from direction Würzburg/Darmstadt)
• Travel autobahn A 60 crossing "Autobahn-Dreieck Rüsselsheim" or travel autobahn A 63 crossing "Autobahnkreuz Mainz" to get to autobahn A 60 direction Bingen.
• Leave autobahn A 60 at exit "Mainz-Finthen".
• Follow the street sign "Saarstraße/Innenstadt" straight ahead through the traffic circle "Europaplatz".
• Take exit "Universität" (see above).
